The Los Angeles Times and others have acclaimed Westwind Brass for virtuosity, musical integrity, and diverse programming. The ensemble has captured prizes at two international brass competitions and has toured internationally in Japan, Mexico, and across the United States. Their residency programs feature non-Western music from Africa, China, the middle east, and South America. The ensemble has performed for the Music Educators National Conference, the first Chamber Music Educator/Ensemble Seminar at Oberlin, California Music Educators state and region conventions. In addition, the Westwind Brass Education program has provided musical enrichment and access to over 350,000 students since 1986. 

The ensemble demonstrates instruments and performs music that covers a broad spectrum of styles and cultures. Besides in-school educational performances, Westwind Brass offers master classes and ensemble coaching for high school and college music students, and specialized in-services. Westwind Brass has released ten CDs to excellent notice: Westwind Brass, Westwind Brass and Friends, Westwind Christmas, Americana, Music of the Californias, The Old Euro Standard, Jazztet, Westwind’s Favorites, Dutton’s World Resounds and San Diego Salutes: A Tribute to America and those Who Serve (with the San Diego Children’s Choir). Each summer, Westwind Brass holds its annual International Brass Workshop in San Diego, open to brass musicians of all ages.
