SDSU Mariachi Program
Find Your Place in SDSU Mariachi
The SDSU Mariachi Program brings students from across the university together to learn, perform and celebrate mariachi music. Whether you study music, engineering, public administration or another field, there is a place for you in the ensemble.
Reestablished as a class in 2024, the program offers beginning and advanced groups for students with different levels of experience. Some members have played mariachi for years, while others are discovering it for the first time.
Led by educator, composer and trumpet player Jeff Nevin, students build skills in performance, singing, music theory and ensemble technique while connecting with culture and community.

•Director: Dr. Jeff Nevin •Location: Meets on Tuesday evenings in M113 (Rhapsody Hall), School of Music and Dance. •Participation: Open to all SDSU students across campus, from beginners to advanced music majors. •No audition necessary. Bring your instrument, your voice and your love for mariachi.
