Bio

A native of Canada, Martin Chambers earned his B.M. and M.M. from the University of British Columbia. He sang professionally for over twenty years, performing opera, oratorio, and concerts in Europe and the Americas including seven years as a performing artist in Austria and Germany. He continued his professional work in Canada while also serving as Professor of Music for eleven years at University of Western Ontario, where he taught voice and directed opera. Chambers was hired as professor of voice by SDSU in 1986 and in 1988 became Chair of the music department and later Director of the newly formed school of Music and Dance. Chambers began composing for choirs in 2007 and continued to compose after his retirement from SDSU.
