Hsin-Lin Tsai
Violin (L'Etoile Duo)

Hsin-Lin Tsai is an acclaimed violinist who has performed globally with major orchestras and renowned conductors. A Taiwan National Violin Competition winner, she debuted at Carnegie Hall, records with RTVE Música, co-directs The Renewal Series, and teaches at Tufts, NEC Prep, and Harvard. Her students excel internationally.

Miguel Perez, violin (L'Etoile Duo)
Violin (L'Etoile Duo)

Miguel Pérez-Espejo Cárdenas is a celebrated Spanish violinist praised for his expressive artistry, technical mastery, and heartfelt interpretations. A competition winner and Fulbright Scholar, he has performed worldwide in major venues and with top orchestras, premiered contemporary works, recorded for RTVE Música, collaborates in chamber music, and teaches at prestigious institutions.

 Danny Kim, viola
Viola, Boston Symphony Orchestra

Danny Kim is a violist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, joining in the 2016–17 season. A Juilliard graduate, he performs internationally in chamber and orchestral settings, appears at major festivals, teaches at Boston University, and is active in community outreach and educational initiatives.

Jennifer Kloetzel, cello
Cello. UCSB Faculty

Jennifer Kloetzel, Professor and Head of the Strings Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara, is a Juilliard-trained, Fulbright-awarded cellist and chamber musician. A founding member of the Cypress String Quartet, she has recorded extensively, premiered new works, and performed worldwide, praised for her passionate, vibrant playing and commitment to contemporary music.

Nina Decesare, bass
Bass, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra

Nina DeCesare is a double bassist in the Baltimore Symphony’s bass section, beginning in 2020. She started bass at eight, studied at Rice University, and won orchestral and solo competitions. DeCesare has performed with major ensembles, taught at festivals and workshops, and balances chamber, solo, and teaching work alongside her orchestral career.

Ethan Pernela, viola
Viola, San Diego Symphony Orchestra

Ethan Pernela is a violist from Oregon who joined the San Diego Symphony’s viola section in 2015. He holds multiple degrees with honors from the New England Conservatory, has played with major orchestras and festivals worldwide, and collaborates actively in chamber music. Outside of music, he enjoys outdoor time with his family.

 
 
Pei-Chun Tsai, violin
Violin, SDSU Faculty

Pei-Chun Tsai is a Taiwanese violinist and violin lecturer at San Diego State University. She began violin at age four, won national competitions, and debuted at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall. She performs nationally and internationally, is a long-time San Diego Symphony member, and holds degrees from Juilliard and a DMA from CUNY.

 Alex Greenbaum
Cello, SDSU Faculty

Alex Greenbaum is a cellist and Lecturer at San Diego State University’s School of Music and Dance, where he teaches cello and chamber music and serves as Coordinator of Stringed Instruments. A native of New York and member of the Hausmann Quartet and The Knights, he performs widely, records internationally, and engages in diverse collaborative projects.
