Repertoire Piano
Piano Audition Requirements
Undergraduate:
The candidate must prepare 2 – 3 contrasting selections from the piano repertoire. A movement of a classical sonata is recommended. Audition repertoire must be memorized and played in their entirety. There will be a short sight reading component following the performance of audition repertoire.
M.M. Performance (solo), Artist Diploma, Performer’s Certificate:
The candidate must prepare a minimum of three contrasting selections, at least 30 minutes in length. One of these selections must be the first movement of a Classical sonata. Audition repertoire must be memorized and played in their entirety. There will be a short sight reading component following the performance of audition repertoire. The Master of Music degree requires a Bachelor of Music in piano performance or a demonstrated equivalent as determined by the piano faculty.
M.M. Performance, Collaborative Piano emphasis:
Prescreening Video Audition (February 1st deadline):
- First movement of a classical piano sonata (solo). Memorization not required.
- Three art songs performed with a vocalist OR one movement of an instrumental sonata performed with an instrumentalist.
Live Audition
- Sight reading (4 hands)
- A short quick-learn project will be emailed one week prior to scheduled audition
- Solo piece(s) of choice totalling 8-10 minutes. Memorization not required.
