Piano Audition Requirements

Undergraduate:

The candidate must prepare 2 – 3 contrasting selections from the piano repertoire. A movement of a classical sonata is recommended. Audition repertoire must be memorized and played in their entirety. There will be a short sightreading component following the performance of audition repertoire.

Graduate Degrees/Artist Diploma/Performer’s Certificate:

The candidate must prepare a minimum of three contrasting selections, at least 30 minutes in length. One of these selections must be the first movement of a Classical sonata. Audition repertoire must be memorized and played in their entirety. A major ensemble piece (ie. 1st movement of a Beethoven or Brahms string sonata) may be performed with prior approval. There will be a short sightreading component following the performance of audition repertoire. The Master of Music degree requires a Bachelor of Music in piano performance, but special cases will be considered.
