Undergraduates must apply online at CalState Apply by December 2 for Fall admission.

The School of Music and Dance will notify students who have applied to SDSU to complete the School of Music and Dance online audition and application. All degree and non-degree programs in the School of Music and Dance require a performance audition or portfolio/paper submission in addition to the regular university application process. Audition applications are due by January 15, 2026.

NOTE: Applicants to Global Composition (GC) and Music Recording Technology and Audio Design (MRTAD) have no live audition, and are subject to a separate application deadline. All application materials for these two majors only are due, via interfolio, no later than February 1, 2026.

Within 72 hours of submitting your initial application to Cal State Apply, you will receive an email with a personalized link to Slate to submit your program application.

If you noted that you’d like to audition in person, our student services coordinator will contact you to schedule a time.

• Dance Auditions: January 31, 2026 and February 1, 2026 from 10am-2pm
• Music Auditions: February 7 and 8, February 14 and February 15, 2026
  
  • Brass auditions will only be held on Saturday, February 7th (Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, French Horn)
    Sunday, February 8th (Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, French Horn)
    Sunday, February 15th (Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba)
  • Classical Guitar auditions will only be held on Saturday, February 7th  
  • Percussion auditions will only be held on Sunday, February 8th
  • Woodwind auditions will only be held on Saturday, February 7th (Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon)
    Sunday, February 8th (Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon)
  • Jazz auditions will only be held on Saturday, February 7th; Sunday, February 8th; Saturday, February 14th and Sunday, February 15th
  • String auditions will only be held on Sunday, February 8th and Saturday, February 14th
  • Piano auditions will only be held on Sunday, February 8th and Saturday, February 14th
  • Vocal auditions will be held on Saturday, February 7th; Sunday, February 8th; Saturday, February 14th and Sunday, February 15th
