Classical Guitar Ensemble

You DO NOT have to be a music major to play in the SDSU Guitar Ensemble. Non-majors are ENCOURAGED to participate! Schedule an audition TODAY.

In Guitar Ensemble, guitarists play works as a large guitar orchestra as well as mixed smaller ensembles (such as duos, trios, and quartets). Guitar Ensemble is a performance-based group which focuses on developing ensemble cohesion, practice techniques, and music notation reading ability. Participants are professionally trained in group playing, sight-reading, and performance.

Much of the class is devoted to the larger ensemble rehearsal, but also consists of small group coaching, exercises, and discussion of performance related topics. Any guitarist looking to bolster their experience playing with others and under a conductor should take this course. Participation in Guitar Ensemble can be an integral piece to building a professional portfolio worthy of any career in performance or education.

The SDSU Guitar Ensemble performs monthly each semester at the SDSU Guitar Series. A full schedule of events can be found at: https://music.sdsu.edu/calendar

All classical guitar majors receiving lessons are required to enroll in Guitar Ensemble for each semester they receive lessons.
