SDSU Live!

About the Show

  • Features more than 250 performers from SDSU’s top orchestral, wind, and dance ensembles.
  • Also features a 120-voice choir, the commanding Marching Aztecs, and Musical Theatre performers.
  • Wind Symphony: Respighi's Pines of Rome, Maslanka's In Memoriam, and Bonney's Threnody featuring original choreography by SDSU Dance.
  • Combined choirs and orchestra present Chichester Psalms in San Diego's only concert performance during the Leonard Bernstein Centenary Celebration.
  • “Make our Garden Grow” from Bernstein’s Candide integrates SDSU’s renowned MFA Musical Theatre program for an unforgettable finale.

SDSU’s powerhouse School of Music and Dance will perform works including Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi, In Memoriam by David Maslanka and Threnody by Jim Bonney, and patrons will be welcomed to the hall in true SDSU style by the commanding Marching Aztecs.


About the Cause

Proceeds from SDSU Live will support the San Diego Symphony/SDSU fund for students studying Music Education at SDSU.


SDSU Music Education Program Graduates:

  • Make up 65% of San Diego's Music teachers.
  • Teach over 10,000 K-12 students annually.
  • Are first hired and most highly qualified according to the largest school districts in the county.
