Catherine Watters, a recent graduate of The University of Washington where she was the feature twirler with the Husky Marching Band for 5 years, is extremely excited and honored to be joining the Aztec team! Majoring in American Ethnic Studies with minors in Diversity and Dance, her background is extensive in the dance field as well as the competitive and performing field of baton twirling.  In fact, Catherine has travelled the world competing and performing her twirling and dance skills.  A two-time USA World Team member, Catherine won a gold medal at the 2006 World Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands in Junior Women’s Pairs, and in 2012, she was a silver medalist in Neuchatel, Switzerland in Senior Women’s X-Strutting.  As a collegian, Catherine was honored to perform with the Huskies in China, France, Italy, Switzerland and most recently, on a cruise ship in the Caribbean and Cozumel! Catherine was also awarded the 2011 College Miss Majorette of America, the highest honor a collegiate twirling athlete can achieve, and she was proud to bring that award home to The University of Washington and the Husky Marching Band!

At the age of sixteen, Catherine was one of eight baton twirlers from across the nation invited to perform with Lions Club International at The Festival de la Primavera in Trujillo and Lima, Peru.  There, she served as an American Ambassador, performing her twirling skills to help raise money for the orphanages and hospitals in the area.  Here, she developed a love of serving and volunteering to give back to her community and those in need.  As a student athlete, receiving an athletic scholarship for her twirling at the UW, Catherine personally raised over $10,000 dollars for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. She served as a leader both on and off the field to promote good will for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Dance-For-A-Cure along with the Regional Cancer Research Centers of Seattle.

A Southern California native, Catherine is an accomplished choreographer, coach and judge.  She serves as an official staff member and contest director at the National Baton Twirling Championships.  She is excited to promote her passion for baton twirling in Southern California!  GO AZTECS!!!
