Following study at the University of Washington, Rekevics embarked upon a successful performing career that has has encompassed television, movie, commercial jingle and live shows. He has performed with a wide variety of popular performers including Dianne Carrol, Mel Torme, David Sanborn, Bob Hope, Lynyrd Skynryd, Natalie Cole, the Four Seasons, Johnny Mathis, John Lithgow, the Fifth Dimension, the Temptations and a host of others. He has recorded nationally on the American Gramophone label and also with several local artists. Heard frequently on movie and television soundtracks, he is a regular performer at jazz clubs in San Diego. He has been on the SDSU faculty since 1990. John is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Science and the American Federation of Musicians.
