As a professional singer in Europe, Mr. Chambers was the leading lyric tenor with the Vienna Chamber Opera, Hessen State Opera, Luebeck, Dortmund and Essen Opera. In Canada, he has appeared with the Vancouver Opera, Festival Ottawa and has sung eighteen roles with the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto. In the U.S.A. he has performed two roles with the San Diego Opera. Oratorio highlights include the tenor arias and Evangelist in Bach’s ST. JOHN PASSION, Handel’s MESSIAH and JUDAS MACCABAEUS, Beethoven’s NINTH SYMPHONY, and Verdi’s REQUIEM. Mr. Chambers has recorded Opera, Oratorio and solo recitals with CBC.


As a professor, Mr. Chambers was appointed Artist-in Residence in 1975 and assistant professor of Music in 1976 at the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario, Canada, professor of Music at San Diego State University in 1986, chairman of the Music Department in 1988 and Director of the School of Music and Dance in 1993. Recipient of two Canada Council Arts grants, Mr. Chambers has been awarded membership in the national honor society Pi Kappa Lambda, Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Alpha Iota.


Throughout his academic career he has taught the following courses and directed the following ensembles: Studio Voice, Opera Theatre, Solo Vocal Literature, Vocal Pedagogy, Chamber Singers and Concert Choir, Sight-Singing, German Diction.


In the San Diego community Professor Chambers is a board member of the Community Council for Music in the Schools and the co-founder of the SDSU Community Music School.
