Patricia Sandback is a dance performer, choreographer and educator. She has created over 130 dances that have been presented in the United States, Mexico, Russia, France, England, Switzerland, Germany and Hong Kong. These award-wining works have been featured in her own productions of Patricia Sandback and Dancers and Big Ladies and in the repertory of other companies and artists including Isaacs and Mc Caleb, Mojalet Dance Collective, Dances for Two, Three’s River Dance Company, Sushi 20/20, Debi Toth, Betzie Roe, Trolley Dances San Diego and Tonnie Sammartano in Under the Tongue and Five by One and Eleven Heads. She has worked with such groups as the Alexander String Quartet, the Hyperion String Quartet, Westwind Brass, and San Diego State Jazz Ensemble, and many musicians including Chris Penney, Myron Fink, Karen Elaine, Molly Wilmot, Jon Szanto, Brent Dutton, and Ric Cupples. In addition to her work, she has performed with Lower Left Dance Collective, Nina Martin, Allyson Green, Jean Isaacs, George Willis, Rich Burrows and Ellen Seigel. She was given the first “Tommy” awarded for Modern Dance Choreography from the San Diego Dance Alliance.
Professor Sandback has been invited to speak on panels and give presentations on dance for local, national and international conferences. She was the Coordinator of four California State University Summer Arts Dance Workshops where she also was a guest performer, teacher and choreographer.
