General Information:
- An entrance audition is required for admittance to the world music degree program.
Auditions at SDSU:
The purpose of this audition is to determine a student’s qualifications for admission as a music major.
- Undergraduate and Transfer students who reside in San Diego, Orange, Riverside, Imperial and Los Angeles counties will be required to audition in person at San Diego State University on the specified audition dates.
DVD and VHS Taped Auditions:
- Undergraduate students who live outside of San Diego, Orange, Riverside, Imperial and Los Angeles counties may audition via DVD or VHS tape.
- All performance audition DVDs and VHS tapes should clearly indicate the auditioning student’s name, instrument type, selected repertoire, and date of recording.
- Audio compact discs will be accepted with DVDs or VHS tapes as backup audition performance documentation, not in lieu of DVDs or VHS tapes.
- While the Scholarship Committee does not expect “professional” level production quality, it is very important that DVDs and VHS tapes have an audio quality sufficient for committee members to clearly hear the auditioning student’s performance.
Incoming Freshman and Transfer Student Repertoire Requirements:
Students applying for study of instruments or voice in the World Music area will be be auditioned by the World Music Committee on their chosen instrument or vocal style style.
