It is an exciting time in the School of Music and Dance as we launch the start of a new academic year. Entering students have arrived to begin pursuing their artistic goals and new experiences are in store for everyone - whether they are returning students, faculty, or staff.
As the new director of the school, it is my pleasure to invite you to enjoy the myriad of music and dance performances, master classes, visiting artists, and seminars that are the hallmark of this dynamic and forward looking school. Our faculty are fully engaged in the work of teaching while simultaneously continuing their own important professional work as performers, scholars, and researchers in the music and dance fields.
If you are a prospective student determining your future undergraduate or graduate study, I urge you to make time to visit our beautiful campus and meet the faculty of the School of Music and Dance, hear our faculty or students perform, and sit in on classes. You'll find a warm and enthusiastic welcome and you will quickly discover that San Diego State's programs are designed to enable you to fulfill your professional career goals.
We are very proud of our alumni who spent important time at SDSU during their degree programs and who have gone on to distinguished careers throughout the world. If you are an alumni of the School of Music and Dance, please know that we are always interested in hearing from you - whether you are a very recent graduate or if you completed your studies here decades ago. As the new director, I am especially interested in getting to know you and making new connections!
Finally, the School of Music and Dance is also an integral part of the larger San Diego community. Our faculty and students have an ongoing commitment to professional and educational programs that enrich not only their own personal and artistic growth but provide an important resource to one of the United State's leading cities.
Join us! We look forward to seeing you on campus soon.
