Undergraduate Application Process in Music
1. Students applying for admission must submit the CSU University Undergraduate Application and fee in electronic format (www.csumentor.edu) The Prospective Student Center is your next step to learn more about SDSU. You are encouraged to sign-on with SDSU to create a personal profile. SDSU can then send you information about upcoming events and important admission dates (www.sdsu.edu/signon).
2. After applying to the University you will receive information directly from the School of Music and Dance regarding your audition. All incoming freshmen and transfer students must audition in the Spring before Fall matriculation. If you wish, you may also be adjudicated for a scholarship at this time.
Please see APPLY & AUDITION: ENTRANCE/SCHOLARSHIP AUDITION DATES AND APPLICATIONS FOR MUSIC section of our web-site for information and an application. If you are unable to appear on these spring dates you may send a VHS tape or a DVD. Requirements for the audition are listed in the Undergraduate Music Handbook and on each divisional page (woodwinds, brass, etc.).
3. If you successfully pass your audition please refer to the APPLY and AUDITION section of our website for dates and time of the orientation and placements tests. All incoming music students must attend and participate in this process to have music major status.
4. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Sandra Konar, Student Coordinator (619) 594-6032, skonar@mail.sdsu.edu. She will assist you through the entire process.
