Director / Singer Kellie Evans-O'Connor’s work as a performer has included roles from opera standards such as LA BOHEME and COSI FAN TUTTE, to such contemporary American operas as THE CRUCIBLE, THE MEDIUM, the west coast premiere of Pasatieri's BEFORE BREAKFAST, as well as her one-woman music theater piece A VISIT WITH EMILY DICKINSON, winner of a California Arts council grant.

She appeared at Inspiration Point Opera Festival (Arkansas), The Blossom Festival /Cleveland Orchestra, Hidden Valley Opera, toured extensively with Inland Opera and National Theater for Children, appeared locally with Pacific Lyric Theater, San Diego Men's Chorus, San Diego Comic Opera/ SD Gilbert and Sullivan and San Diego Repertory Theater. She was Founder/Director/Performer of the Discount Comic Opera, specializing in satirizing great operatic literature, and has performed a wealth of song & concert literature.

As an opera stage director, she is Director/Coordinator for Opera for kids...by kids at San Diego Opera, and previously wrote for & directed the SDO Touring Ensemble.  Author and adapter of many educational opera programs, her award-winning “LET'S COOK UP AN OPERA!” has been produced by Cincinnati Opera and San Diego Opera.

Other directing credits include LA BOHEME & LA CENERENTOLA for Opera Pacific's Overture Company, HANSEL & GRETEL with San Antonio Symphony, as well as several seasons as a stage director for the Apprentice Artist Program at Des Moines Metro Opera. She has served as Assistant Stage Director for Opera San Jose, the Opera America workshop of Mollicone’s HOTEL EDEN at Hidden Valley Opera, and the world premiere of the jazz opera BURNING DREAMS by Gina Leishman in a Lila Wallace/ Reader's Digest grant production at San Diego Repertory Theater.

Director of SDSU Opera Theater since 1996, productions have included THE SECRET MARRIAGE, THE TENDER LAND, THE MIKADO, THE BEGGAR'S OPERA, one-act operas such as DOWN IN THE VALLEY, THE DEVIL & DANIEL WEBSTER, GIANNI SCHICCHI, DIDO & AENEAS, and TROUBLE IN TAHITI, as well as numerous opera scenes productions including one comprised of scenes written by SDSU composition students in collaboration with resident composer David Ward-Steinman.
