Heidi Feldman is an ethnomusicologist and arts management consultant. She teaches courses on music and popular culture at University of California, San Diego, Soka University of America, and San Diego State University, and she previously taught at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her publications include her book, Black Rhythms of Peru: Reviving African Musical Heritage in the Black Pacific (Wesleyan University Press 2006) and scholarly articles in Ethnomusicology, Selected Reports in Ethnomusicology, and Pacific Review of Ethnomusicology. Her publications have been supported by several awards and fellowships, including the American Musicological Society Subvention Award, Social Science Research Council International Dissertation Field Research Fellowship, UCLA Institute of American Cultures Predissertation Grant, Ford Foundation-International Studies and Overseas Program Grant, and others. She has conducted invited presentations on Afro-Peruvian music at Brandeis University, UCSD, and UC Riverside. As a vocalist, Feldman performed with Grant Park Symphony Chorus and the Choral Ensemble of Chicago.
