| Bachelor of Arts |
The B.A. in Music offers undergraduate students the opportunity to study various areas of music performance, theory, history, and composition, while balancing their curriculum with a liberal arts emphasis. The B.A. in Dance is a liberal arts degree for those students who seek an understanding of an intimate orientation to the discipline of dance without particular professional goals in mind. |
| Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance |
| The B.F.A. in Dance is a professional degree, which focuses on intensive work in the field of dance with a supporting program of general studies. It provides professional preparation for dance majors in choreography, performance, scholarship and teaching. Our graduates work as choreographers and dancers with professional modern dance companies. They serve as teachers in community and recreational programs, schools, as movement educators, and candidates for graduate work in dance scholarship. |

The B.M. degree in Music is a professional degree that focuses on both the performance and academic aspects of music. The core curriculum centers on applied lessons, ensemble performance, theory, history, and keyboard proficiency. Within the focus of this core curriculum, School of Music and Dance students are given a solid musical grounding that prepares them for a professional career in music. |

| Certificate Programs |
The Artist Diploma is the most advanced certificate program offered in the School of Music and Dance. It is reserved for the most highly gifted and creative performers and composers. Artist Diploma studies provide intensive musical and management training with the intent of each student creating an international career. Acceptance into the Artist Diploma program is highly competitive and predicated on the level and quality of performance and achievement. Additionaly, the School of Music offers a two-year performance intensive Performer's Certificate program for students who wish to receive advanced training in music without earning a Bachelor's degree. |

The M.M. degree in Music is designed to promote outstanding achievement in both performance and intellectual development. For many students, the M.M. is their final professional degree. Many of our students, however, wish to pursue doctoral degrees and/or specialized diplomas after completing the M.M. At SDSU School of Music and Dance, we strive to prepare our graduate students for the highest attainments in the field of music. Performance |

The emphasis of the M.A. degree in Music is on research rather than applied music study. Since the M.A. degree in Music is a research-intensive program, a strong emphasis is placed on research and writing skills. Graduate students pursuing the M.A. in Music degree work closely with world-renowned educators and scholars, culminating in a significant thesis project. |
