San Diego State University School of Music and Dance students are quickly gaining recognition for achieving excellence in the arts and acceptance into top music programs across the country. We congratulate our current students and recent graduates for their many accomplishments!
 
Cameron Brown (BM Music Ed '06) is Director of Instrumental Music at Hoover High School in San Diego.The San Diego High School Concert Band (under his direction) won Superior and Best Overall High School Band in Music in the Parks in Disneyland, June 2007.
 
Victoria Robertson, mezzo soprano, and candidate for the Artist Diploma, won first prize in the vocal category of the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus Young Artists Competition. She will have the opportunity to perform with the ensemble next season.
 
Matthew Herriman (BM 07) was named the most promising vocalist at the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus Young Artists Competition. . Both Matt and Victoria are students of Mary MacKenzie.
 
Colleen D'Agostino (BA Music '06) and her rock band "The Material" have been chosen as one of 12 finalists in the popular MTV2 Dew Circuit Breakout '07 battle of the bands from a pool of 4,000 entries, "The fact that we may have a chance in this contest makes me hopeful that all of our hard work is about to pay off." She is the only female artist featured in the Top 3 bands of the competition.
 
Michael Couper - B.M. in Saxophone Performance. Accepted into the Master of Music Performance programs at Eastman, New England Conservatory, Peabody Conservatory, and USC. He will begin his studies at New England in the Fall 07'
 

Adnan Marquez - B.M. in Saxophone Performance. Accepted into the elite Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in Music, Science, and Technology (M.A./M.S.T.) program at Stanford University
