Bio

Saxophone studies with Alayne Rever, Russell Peterson, and Ramon Ricker. Co-founder of the SWARMIUS Ensemble, a first-call saxophonist with the San Diego Symphony, and principal saxophonist with the San Diego Winds (2009-19). Numerous invited performances with chamber music organizations Art of Elan, La Jolla Music Society, STET, Composer’s Concordance, NWEAMO, Monday Evening Concerts, California Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Nova, and others. Featured solo recitals at festivals (Calgary New Music, World Saxophone Congress, Veneto International Jazz, Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras, International Computer Music Conference, Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States, Carlsbad Music Festival, Festival of New American Music, Tribeca New Music) and major concert venues in Sweden, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, China, Ireland, Australia, and throughout the United States. Recordings as soloist and with ensembles on Nonesuch, Aleppo, Warner Bros., and Composer’s Concordance labels.

Master classes in saxophone performance and literature at over 45 universities, including Juilliard, Yale, Beijing Central Conservatory, Sydney Conservatorium, North Texas, UCLA, Temple, and the University of Southern California. Invited juror for the Coleman Chamber Music Competition, Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association Solo festival, MTAC-San Diego Branch Concerto Competition, South Carolina Music Teachers Association State Competition.

Author of “Altissimo Studies for Alto” and “Tenor Saxophone,” as well as arrangements of music by Lili Boulanger and Pierre Rode (published by RC EDITIONS). Todd is a Selmer Artist and performs on Selmer saxophones exclusively.
