Background:Michael Fellinger was born and raised in Ft. Smith Arkansas. He earned
a B.A. in Music Education in 1972 from Arkansas Polytechnic College (now
Arkansas Tech University ), where he studied trombone with Andy Anders.
He then worked towards a M.M. in Performance for two years at the New
England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Mass., studying trombone with
John Swallow and John Coffey. He has also received private training from
Arnold Jacobs, Edward Kleinhammer, and Frank Crisafulli of the Chicago
Symphony, and especially Mark Lawrence, Principal Trombonist of the San
Francisco Symphony. He was a member of the Fellowship Orchestra at the
Berkshire Music Festival at Tanglewood, Massachusetts in 1974. He is married to Barbara Fellinger. They live with their two dogs, Barkley and Thumper, and have three grandchildren, all of whom are cute, adorable, and smarter than anyone else's.
