*An additional 4 lower division music elective units are to be taken in the 1st and 2nd year.

*An additional 4 upper division music elective units are to be taken in the 3rd and 4th year.

*An additional 13 elective units (lower and upper division) may be taken from music or other departments.
*Students must usher at four approved recitals during the first and second semester and perform for a maximum of eight minutes on a divisional recital each semester during years 2, 3 and 4 excluding the semesters in which the junior and senior recitals are given.
*Students must attend 12 approved recitals for each semester of private studio instruction at SDSU.

*All students must pass the aural skills examination before graduation (1, 2 and 4-part dictation, error detection, chromatic harmony and sight-singing).

*Voice students are expected to provide an accompanist for lessons, performances and juries.
*Students must demonstrate a foreign language equivalency of two university semesters of French, German or Italian. (Guitarists may substitute Spanish.) Vocalists must demonstrate equivalency of one university semester each of French, German and Italian.
*All students must complete 49 units of General Education.
